HOTEL:
All attendees should make their own room reservations at Cavallo Point Lodge (888/651-2003), which is now operating on a wait-list basis for the night of March 23 (see alternate hotel information below). The special ECOS group rate of $205 plus a 4% facility fee for single/double accommodations was guaranteed only thru February 22. (The 4% fee will be waived for federal travelers paying with a government credit card.)
Cavallo Point Lodge falls under the federal per diem rate of $166 for San Francisco rather than the Marin County rate of $120 due to a footnote in federal guidelines covering entities (in this case the Golden Gate National Recreation Area) in more than one county. Contact Lia Parisien at lparisie@sso.org for additional details.
Please note that although hotel policy is that guests may cancel or change room reservations at any time without penalty, ECOS is financially responsible for filling all rooms at Cavallo Point. Accordingly, ECOS asks that guests please make any cancellations at least a week prior to the meeting (earlier if possible) to avoid a situation in which the association has to foot the bill for empty rooms.
***One attendee from each state environmental agency that has paid its 2010 ECOS dues will be eligible for reimbursement of $39 per night for up to three nights at Cavallo Point. This is to cover the difference between the $205 room rate and the federal per diem rate of $166. Simply submit an ECOS travel reimbursement form (below) and hotel invoice following the meeting.

DIRECTIONS AND AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION:
For directions and airport shuttle and taxi information, visit the Cavallo Point website at www.cavallopoint.com and click on “directions” at the top of the page. As detailed on that page, the Marin Airporter shuttle is the least expensive option ($20) from the San Francisco airport for passengers traveling alone. Unfortunately, Cavallo Point shuttle service from the Spencer exit drop-off point cannot be guaranteed -- despite the language on the hotel website -- and passengers may need to ask the airport shuttle driver to call ahead for a cab pickup from that point. Note that although cab fare from the airport can run $75 to $100, for the return trip to the San Francisco airport, the hotel concierge can reserve a flat rate cab fare of $60 plus gratuity, which can be shared among up to three passengers. Travel times to and from the airport range from 30 minutes to one hour depending on traffic. For those who drive, daily parking at Cavallo Point is $15 (a special reduced rate for ECOS).
OVERFLOW HOTEL:
Due to the sellout for the night of March 23 at Cavallo Point, ECOS has reserved a block of rooms at the Casa Madrona Hotel (www.casamadrona.com) in downtown Sausalito, located approximately three miles from Cavallo Point. Special ECOS rates at the Casa Madrona for single/double occupancy on the nights of March 22, 23, and 24 are as follows: Victorian $119; Bay View $139; Suite $159; Cottage $179; Courtyard View $189; Harbor View $249. To book a room, contact Rick Tosh, Sales & Conference Services Manager, Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa, at 415/354-8303 or rtosh@casamadrona.com. Casa Madrona has a 72-hour cancellation policy. For travel between the meeting hotel and overflow hotel, Cavallo Point provides shuttle service to downtown Sausalito (walking distance to Casa Madrona) on the odd hour from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. The trip back departs from the kiosk by the ferry landing at 15 minutes past the odd hour. Alternatively, cab service runs about $15.00. There is no public transportation option.
