The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has released new guidance to help sponsors of clean water and drinking water infrastructure projects plan and deploy investments that are resilient to the state’s changing climate.
The New Jersey Water Bank requires project sponsors to prepare Climate Resilience Assessments to ensure the success of publicly-funded water infrastructure. Based on the best available and most recent New Jersey-specific climate science, the guidance offers practical information that enables project sponsors to account for potential impacts from extreme precipitation, flooding, sea-level rise, and storm surge. This information allows project planners to evaluate project alternatives and identify climate resilience measures that will maximize operational stability and protect the investment.
