The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is making $13.5 million in funding available for local projects that will improve water quality and help prevent, mitigate, and manage harmful algal blooms (HABs) in New Jersey’s lakes and ponds.
The DEP has issued requests for proposals for $3.5 million in grants to help local management, response, and mitigation of harmful algal blooms. It has also issued a draft Intended Use Plan that earmarks $10 million in Clean Water State Revolving Fund money as principal forgiveness for projects that address HABs by improving water quality.
