2008 Spring Meeting, New Orleans, LA
On Monday, April 14, as part of the 2008 ECOS Spring Meeting, the Water Committee met in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Below are notes and other materials from the meeting.

Draft Meeting Notes

Letter Asking for Withdrawl of Proposed Permit Fee Rule (January 11, 2008)
ECOS is asking USEPA to withdraw a proposed rule affecting state water funding in light of a Congressional statement forbidding the agency to implement it.  A copy of the letter may be accessed here.

ASIWPCA sent a letter to Congress regarding the Proposed Permit Fee Rule (January 2008).  A copy of the letter may be accessed here.

2008 Spring Meeting Planning
The Water Committee has begun planning for the 2008 ECOS Spring Meeting.  Please submit ideas for resolutions and agenda items to Kristen Dunne at kdunne@sso.org.  

Full committee conference calls were held on Tuesday, February 5th at 12:30pm eastern time and March 4th at 3pm.   

Conference Calls on ECOS Strategic Priorities
The ECOS Executive Committee has identified six strategic priorities including:
1)      Promote strong federal budget support for state agencies
2)      Advocate the role of States as co-regulators and pursue oversight reform
3)      Champion burden reduction, flexibility, and streamlining processes to focus on environmental results
4)      Advise on policy positions regarding national environmental issues
5)      Seek and promote innovation
6)      Review proposed EPA regulations and policies

Committees are asked to offer their recommendations for implementing ECOS’ Strategic Priorities by Feb. 1, 2008.  The Water Committee has arranged a series of three conference calls to discuss the six priorities and develop recommendations.

Call #1:  Wednesday, October 31, 2007, 12:30-1:15pm Eastern Time
Call #2:  Tuesday, December 4, 2007, 12:30pm Eastern Time
Call #3:  Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:30 Eastern Time
