The Connecticut Coalition for Sustainable Materials Management collaborates with the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection and over 90 municipalities in Connecticut. The coalition explores ways to 1) reduce the amount of waste generated in Connecticut, 2) improve reuse, recycling, and organics collection/diversion, 3) support extended producer responsibility legislation, and 4) consider other innovative solutions. There are 4 working groups that focus on different areas: Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Working Group, Food Scraps/Organics Collection & Diversion Working Group, Increase Reuse and Recycling Working Group (IRRWG), and Unit-Based Pricing (UBP) Working Group.
