The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has announced approximately $6M in awards for 426 grants funding a wide range of surface water quality protection activities. Projects range from cost-share initiatives to restore and protect surface water to 11 lake restoration and implementation efforts. These projects include culvert replacement for fish habitat restoration, community science engagement with landowners, installation of vegetative buffers, alum treatments to control internal loading of phosphorus and restore water quality, re-establishment of threatened fish species, and more. Additional funds support 157 organizations participating in the Clean Boats, Clean Waters Program to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species, as well as 39 organizations participating in the Lake Monitoring & Protection Network.
