The Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has developed a Utah Public Water and Wastewater System Cybersecurity Plan to provide immediate response and investigation support for cyberattacks. The plan aims to connect systems with state and federal cybersecurity experts, enhancing statewide preparedness and support recovery from cyber incidents.
DEQ will support drinking water and wastewater systems by sharing information, developing self-guided questionnaires to gather crucial data on system risk levels, and offering technical support during sanitary survey inspections to assist in identifying vulnerabilities.
The plan also outlines cyber incident response protocol, support contacts, and other resources for water systems.
