The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management recently released a draft updated statewide coastal resilience plan, Resilient Rhody 2025, guiding how the state adapts and responds to growing challenges of sea level rise, extreme weather, and other impacts of climate change. The state invited community members, local organizations, and partners from across the state to provide input to directly shape the plan by February 6.
In 2018, Rhode Island produced its first version of the comprehensive preparedness strategy, which outlined climate impacts facing the state and identified 61 key resilience actions aimed to protect infrastructure and natural resources, strengthen the economy, and preserve environmental and human health. Initiatives conducted under the plan have been documented in impact and state of resilience reports.
