The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) has announced 16 members of the newly created Secretary’s Environmental Justice and Equity Advisory Board. The board will work with NCDEQ staff to achieve and maintain the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of North Carolinians regardless of where they live, or their race, religion, or income, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
NCDEQ reports that consistent engagement between communities, industry, and the NCDEQ will help ensure the protection of human health and the environment.
