The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Remediation Division recently announced its development of five Vapor Intrusion (VI) Best Management Practices. The VI map templates illustrate vapor sources, investigation locations, and areas of concern for which volatile chemicals migrate from contaminated groundwater or soil into overlying buildings.
Although VI Best Management Practices are not new guidance for VI work, MPCA, in conjunction with the Minnesota Department of Health, radon mitigation expert practitioners, and environmental consultants, hopes that the maps will facilitate public communication and more consistent project management, reporting, and tracking.
See here for more information on the templates, and here for further details on vapor intrusion and the agency’s practices.
