On July 1, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will celebrate its 30th anniversary. DNR is commemorating its three decades with a collection of 30 natural resource and environmental protection success stories. To name a few: Iowa’s eagle population has rebounded from near extinction in 1986; Iowa has 1,200 miles of hiking and biking trails; Iowa is a leading state in wind energy; and more than two million citizens participate in curbside recycling.
“Now is the perfect time to also reflect on some amazing accomplishments that have truly improved our state’s environment and outdoor opportunities,” remarks Chuck Gipp, Director of the Iowa DNR.
