ECOS Announces Selection of Charles Reyes as Next ITRC Director

Washington, DC — ECOS, together with its program the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council (ITRC), is pleased to announce the selection of Charles Reyes as the next ITRC Director. Charles will officially succeed current Director Patty Reyes on July 1 and will start with ITRC on May 18 to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
ITRC is a state-led environmental coalition working to develop innovative solutions and best management practices. The organization produces documents and training that broaden and deepen technical knowledge and expedite quality regulatory decision making while protecting human health and the environment.
Currently Associate Director of the Association of State & Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO), Charles has filled several roles there since 2008, including developer and leader of the Emerging Contaminants Committee. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and has been an active supporter of ITRC for many years.
“We are delighted to welcome Charles to the ITRC executive team as he builds upon the strong foundation and success resulting from Patty’s tremendous leadership over the last eight years,” said ECOS Executive Director Ben Grumbles, who led the Selection Committee. “While it’s a coincidence the two Directors have the same last name, Charles was selected for his own proven leadership skills and networking talents. We look forward to maintaining our close partnership with ASTSWMO and growing new partnerships to seize upon the most pressing and emerging environmental opportunities.”
Grumbles added, “ITRC had a pool of excellent candidates, and we are grateful to all who applied and all who served on the selection committee, including representatives of ECOS affiliate the Environmental Research Institute of the States, the ITRC Board of Advisors, and staff of ECOS.”
