This week, DC Attorney General Karl Racine and the District Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) announced a lawsuit seeking $216,000 in penalties from Greyhound, alleging Greyhound busses have regularly violated the city’s three-minute idling limit.
At this summer’s ECOS State Environmental Protection meeting, DOEE’s Kelly Crawford highlighted the District’s efforts to enforce the idling ban including the use of new technologies to find and report idling violations. Thermal imaging cameras help determine whether vehicles are left running, and the DC311 app allows users to easily submit photos to report violations.
