This letter is in regards to the fiscal year (FY) 2014 defense and non-defense-related nuclear
cleanup program budgets for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental
Management (DOE-EM). These are the programs spearheaded by DOE for remediating
hazardous and radiological wastes at U.S. nuclear weapons complex sites. The letter urges congress to enact a strong FY2014 nuclear cleanup budget soon to allow for the planning necessary to ensure these
critical programs are safely managed.
