This joint ECOS ASTSWMO letter is a response to the EPA September 2014 Report titled, “EPA Needs to Improve Its Process for Accurately Designating Land as Clean and Protective for Reuse.” In this letter, the associations state that these recommendations to increase EPA oversight and review of State and Territorial submitted data on sites designated ready for anticipated reuse and/or protective for people are necessary. The letter explains that the data submitted by States are accurate and reliable and that the States actively pursue their interest in ensuring the public health and safety of the people.
