The Tennessee Duck River Watershed Planning Partnership, consisting of 19 representatives from the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC) and other agencies and outside stakeholders, is preparing to release its final report in November. The report will include a variety of recommendations to protect water supply in the Duck River Watershed, helping Tennessee balance economic growth while preserving and protecting its important natural resources.
This partnership, formed as a result of Governor Bill Lee’s EO 108, has yielded strategies on how to save water, manage drought, consolidate data, and explore recreation possibilities. In addition, the Duck River has been designated a Class II natural scenic river, banning new landfill construction less than two miles away.
See TDEC’s video for an update on the work.
