The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC)’s Office of Energy Programs has released the Tennessee Freight Electrification Framework, which aims to support commercial fleets that want to transition to electric vehicles. The framework is based on TDEC research, stakeholder outreach, and support from the National Association of State Energy Officials’ Freight Electrification Advisory Group.
TDEC recognizes that the freight sector faces unique and exacerbated challenges to electrification, and intends for the framework to serve as a starting point that can be updated as freight electrification technologies and business models mature.
The document proposes a variety of potential freight-specific initiatives broken into three opportunity areas: charging infrastructure availability and accessibility; awareness and adoption; and innovative research, policies, and programs. To learn more, access the framework here.
