On April 29, the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) will host the South Carolina Brownfields Conference, a statewide forum bringing together local leaders, developers, planners, environmental professionals, and community partners to discuss transforming Brownfields sites into thriving community assets through smart planning and partnership.
The conference will be held in the BullStreet District in Columbia, a former hospital campus that has been remediated and redeveloped into a mixed-use neighborhood. The agenda features this high-profile Brownfields success story among others across the state. Participants will also learn about legal and administrative pathways for redevelopment, training and grant readiness, and liability protections, and have opportunities to network with potential partners.
