This pre-publication version of a new Green Report on Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Environmental Protection compiles information from 21 state environmental agencies on preparations for and early use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support and modernize environmental protection. States have begun staff AI training and data accessibility efforts for AI preparedness. States are also incorporating AI into agency operations involving permitting, administration, and public engagement, among other areas.
