ECOS House Testimony on the Potential of America’s Brownfield Sites

In March 2026, ECOS President Chris Wells presented testimony to the U.S. House Committee on Energy & Commerce, Subcommittee on Environment, addressing Ready for Reuse: Legislative Proposals to Unleash the Potential of America’s Brownfield Sites. Specifically, ECOS expressed support for robust reauthorization of the EPA Brownfields Program and asked for increased funding under sections 128(a) and 104(k) of CERCLA to help states conduct assessment, planning, and cleanup activities, as well as expand assistance to rural and disadvantaged communities.
