This week, states recognized U.S. EPA’s annual SepticSmart Week initiative by spreading awareness about best practices for septic system care and maintenance. SepticSmart Week is observed each year during the third week of September.
Like several other Governors, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster issued a proclamation recognizing the importance of proper septic system operation. In addition to Oregon Governor Tina Kotek’s proclamation, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality shared a news bulletin highlighting its SepticSmart Week blog post on why septic system care matters to Oregon. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources shared a social media post bringing attention to the cause and sharing EPA’s #SepticSmart Week webpage.
