The Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE) hosted its annual Kansas Environmental Conference on August 12-14. The gathering featured workshops and trainings on topics such as hazardous waste generator requirements, the state’s Brownfields program, and guidance for consultants on KDHE Environmental Service Contracts.
The rest of the conference was a mix of plenary and breakout sessions. Breakouts covered topics of broad national interest like PFAS destruction, acid mine drainage, and the lead and copper rule. State-specific topics were also discussed, such as smoke related to Flint Hills grassland burns and KDHE regulatory updates.
Speakers represented KDHE, U.S. EPA, academic institutions, industry, and consulting firms.
