The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is partnering with the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER) to install high-efficiency LED lighting at 12 DEM facilities across the state. The effort is part of OER’s Lead by Example initiative, which supports the public sector in lowering greenhouse gas emissions and reducing energy costs across Rhode Island by investing in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and clean transportation technologies.
OER notes that by switching to LED lighting, the facilities will consume 90% less energy and lighting will last 15 times longer than traditional lighting, reducing DEM’s energy burden and helping meet the state’s Act on Climate goals.
