Last week, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control launched a new Drought Awareness and Resources website developed in partnership with the University of Delaware’s Center for Environmental Monitoring and Analysis and the Delaware Geological Survey.
The website provides users with regular updates on drought conditions, including precipitation measurements by county and municipality. A “Drought Discussion” section summarizes current conditions using charts and graphs, and shares expert commentary from select locations throughout the state. The website includes links to federal agency resources, other Delaware sites, and drought-related webpages for surrounding states.
Delaware has been under a statewide drought watch since late October 2024 but recent reports have offered encouraging news about rainfall and improving groundwater conditions. [Elkins]
