Welcome to the ECOS web page!
Our members are the women and men that lead the states' and territories' environmental agencies. After you've had a chance to look over our materials, I hope you'll come to appreciate the very significant role that state environmental agencies play in keeping the nation's environment clean. I especially recommend to you our States section, for the details about how this remarkable achievement is accomplished.
ECOS works by connecting states with each other, and with our federal partners and others, to help share experiences about how to best manage the environment. In addition to our officers, an Executive Committee governs our organization. We have standing committees addressing Air, Water, Waste, Compliance, Planning and Cross-Media. There are also quite a few "forums" that work with our federal agency partners and "work groups" that focus on particular issues.
Although ECOS is a limited membership organization, we value our connections with other partners and the public. Each year our Annual Meeting (held in late Summer/early Fall) and our Spring Meeting (March/April) are open to the public, and our publications are available to the public as well - nearly all of them are available on this web page.
